Elaine Chow is a painter and designer. Her work is about preservation of memory and cultural value.
Elaine received her master’s degree in Fine Arts from School of Visual Arts and a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from New York University. She has participated in exhibitions including PS 122 (New York, NY), International Print Center New York, (New York, NY), SPACES (Cleveland, OH), John Michael Kohler Arts Center (Sheboygan, WI), and NARS Foundation (Brooklyn, NY). She is a recipient of a 2005 New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Sculpture. In 2008, she was awarded a Japan-United States Friendship Commission/National Endowment for the Arts Creative Artist Exchange Fellowship and spent half a year in Kyoto painting and studying textiles and the gift-giving culture of Japan. She is currently working on year-long series of drawings, paintings, and prints inspired by her domestic (be)longings.
